Threads is a poster adaption to a booklet designed by Remy Usman, classmate and colleague. Usman's booklet focused on a long-time historical struggle to define racial identity in Cape Verde and what it meant to be dark skinned in a Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole speaking country. It has been an issue that is far from being black and white and is referenced in this poster as an ethnic tapestry shot through with threads.
